Virtual Public Meeting - September 30, 2020

Houston Public Works is hosting a Virtual Public Engagement Meeting for flood mitigation project proposals under the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program on Wednesday, September 30th at 12 noon.  The Texas General Land Office has established a statewide competition for federal funds allocated to Texas following Hurricane Harvey.  The applications are focused on where flooding threatens homes that meet the State application criteria. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about the following applications for project funding the City plans to submit:

  1. Huntington Village Area
  2. Port Area
  3. Kashmere Gardens Area
  4. Fifth Ward Area
  5. Sunnyside Area
  6. Alief Parks Area
  7. Braeburn Glen Area

The applications are focused on where flooding threatens homes that meet the State application criteria.

The meeting will begin with a brief presentation about the program, followed by a moderated Q&A session with the Project Team members. Residents will be able to submit questions and comments during the Q&A session. 

Public comment on the flood mitigation project proposals will be accepted through October 1, 2020.  Comments can be submitted to drainage.study@houstontx.gov or by mail to Houston Public Works, 611 Walker Street, 20th Floor, Houston, TX 77002
