To close your account, please
call 713.371.1400 at least one but not more than fourteen business days prior
to the date services are to be closed. Failure to do so automatically
authorizes the City to take a reading at some later time and prorate the water
usage to determine billing.
Please do not leave the services
on "for the next customer." The
new customer may fail to make application for service and this may result in
you being charged for water you did not use.
If there is a deposit on the
account, this will be applied to the final billing. Any remaining credit will
be automatically refunded to the final mailing address on file. Be sure to inform us of your new address to
ensure that you receive your final bill and/or refund.
Transferring Service:
When moving to a new location that
is also served by the City of
Houston,
your old account will be closed. Remember, there will always be a charge for service from your last
billing date through the day you actually closed the account.
If a balance remains after the
deposit is applied, it will be transferred to your new account, and will appear
on the first monthly bill and will be applied towards the deposit on your new
account.
The new property will have a new
account number and may require a different deposit amount.
