Reviews & evaluates traffic operational & safety improvements such as the need for Traffic Signs, Pavements Markings, and the altering of Speed Limits. This group also administers Access Management and Traffic Impact Analysis studies.

Area Mobility Programs
Senior Project Managers & group functions…
Vacant – Oversees applications/ investigations/ approvals for Neighborhood Traffic Projects, as well as Neighborhood Traffic Studies.
Patrick Nguyen – Oversees the Street Light Program (applications/ investigations/ plan reviews), professional engineering Contracts (management & billing), Parking Reviews for special projects, coordinates with H-GAC on Capital Improvement Projects & other projects.
Katherine Parker – Oversees the School Coordination Program (applications/ investigations/ approvals for adding & removing school zones & related infrastructure), recently implemented Quiet Zones Program, and pending Railroad Safety Program.

Safety Investigations Section
Investigates citizens' requests involving Traffic Signage, Pavement Markings Maintenance, View Obstructions, Parking Restrictions, Speed, and Speed Limit issues.
Vacant – Project Tech IV
Traffic Counts Section
Collects & assesses count studies related to Neighborhood Traffic Projects, Speed Humps, Speed data, Average Daily Traffic, Corridors, Intersection Approaches, and Railroad Crossings.
Kenny Brown – Project Tech IV
The T.E.A.M. Branch, based at 611 Walker, is responsible for performing engineering studies & field investigations related to a variety of functions including traffic counts, street lighting, school zones, railroad safety & quiet zones, view obstructions, and neighborhood cut-through traffic. This branch also manages street and lane closure permits and develops general speed & school zone ordinances. The branch will be governed by Chapter 15 of the Department of Public Works & Engineering's Infrastructure Design Manual.
