Deposits
The City
of Houston normally charges a deposit for surety on accounts. This deposit
is refundable after the customer has established an on-time pay history.
The amount of the deposit and length of time it must remain in place
varies by the class of the account.

Deposits
are billed and payable with the first month of service. Waiver or reduction of deposit
may be obtained through one of the following methods:

other City utility accounts with an on-time pay history.

- Sufficient
credit rating of the appropriate type (personal or commercial).

Realty
companies may also qualify for waiver on their rental properties. Further
