* 2003 Building Code Amendments- The adopted Houston amendments to the 2003 International Building Code effective January 4, 2006.

* Residential Standby Generator Guideline - this guideline establishes the permit and inspection provisions for the installation of a permanent standby generator.
* Examples of concrete encased electrodes as required by the NEC.
* 2008 NEC Proposed Amendments - These are the proposed amendments to the 2008 National Electrical Code. Please note that they have not been adopted by City Council.

ENERGY CODE
Important Information: The adoption of a new commercial energy code, based on ASHRAE 90.1-2004 Standard, was approved by City Council on April 30th, 2008. Houston's Guideline to the Energy Code -An informational guideline that discusses the high points of the new Energy Code requirements for Houston, including reference information and basic code provisions.
International Energy Conservation Code Supplement -Required as part of the new code.
Zone Approval and Economizer Letter from Texas A&M - View a copy of the letter written to approve our zone determination and lift the requirements for installing economizers.
Code Word Relating to Energy Code Scenarios - An interpretation of some various commercial construction situations and what Energy Code requirements must be met.
Insulation and Air Leakage - An informational sheet outlining the stud sizes required for the installation of batt insulation, and what components of the building are required to be caulked, sealed and gasketed.
Chapter 4 Energy Code Comparison - A document outlining the highlights of the Chapter 4 approach.
Section 805 of the Energy Code - We have redrafted Section 805 of the Energy Code to include the supplement changes clarifying the electrical requirements.
