Guidelines with instructions on how to submit a request to the City of Houston, Public Works and Engineering Department to acknowledge the reversion of an easement deed which contains reverter language.

The City will select firms for the services listed in the procurement efforts below. Once selections are posted here, the City and selected firms will initiate contracting actions soon thereafter, with schedule and priority as appropriate for implementation of the CIP.

The Engineering Standards Section (SRC), in the Department of Public Works and Engineering (PWE) has been established to review, revise, and update PWE's Standards and Documents. Public input and participation is requested by the submittal of proposals for suggested changes, comments, recommendations and other information. The process will accomplish review of all documents within a five year cycle.

The Office of the City Engineer Branch is designated by The City of Houston to administer and enforce city ordinances pertaining to the construction, alteration, maintenance, and destruction of monitoring wells and soil borings within the city's right of way.

For the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Houston, the Safe Sidewalk Program (SSP) provides sidewalks and ramps within the public right-of-way for pedestrians to use around schools and major thoroughfares and to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

In order to be considered for professional architectural and engineering services with the City of Houston , Department of Public Works and Engineering, a firm must be qualified. To be qualified, each firm submits a Standard Form for Architect/Engineering and Related Services (PWE 100) to the City (as noted below).

This directory contains information regarding the NSR Program. With the implementation of Rebuild Houston, petitions are no longer being accepted for the reconstruction of Local Residential Streets. Community input for Local Residential Streets will now be received through 311 calls, Super Neighborhood Action Committees, and Capital Improvement Project meetings.

There are two main types of contracts that the Public Works and Engineering Department will use when procuring Professional Engineering Services: Three-Phase or Single-Phase Contracts.

The Utility Relocation Program is intended to promote the cooperation of the owners of private utility facilities where the relocation of their facilities are necessary to accommodate public improvement projects.

Application to request the JRC to consider either the abandonment and sale of a street, alley, or easement by the City of Houston or an encroachment agreement allowing you to maintain a building, or other permanent structure within a city street.
