The Street and Bridge Maintenance Branch:
Bridge Maintenance Section inspects bridges as required by federal regulations, provides bridge maintenance of existing structures, and removes and reconstructs timber bridges that have been exposed to traffic levels exceeding the original design. This section also maintains dead-end locations and fabricates, inspects, installs, repairs, and replaces barricades.
The
Specialized Maintenance Section is responsible for repairing potholes and overlaying roadways. (Overlay Schedule/Map)Traffic hazards are handled on an immediate basis by removing or repairing the hazard. This section also responds to weather related emergencies consisting of flooding issues and fallen trees in the right-of-way throughout the city.
The
General Maintenance Section oversees contractors performing major concrete repairs of roads and in-house crews repairing street buckles and broken curbs. Additionally this Section is responsible for sweeping the downtown sector of Houston and major thoroughfares.
