Requirements for Attaining A Stationary Engineer's License
Section 204(a):
First Grade Stationary Engineer's License RequirementsAn applicant for FIRST GRADE stationary engineer's license shall present to the Board service letters or certified copies of same, showing that the applicant has had either the following specified experience, or the specified combination of experience and education:
- At least FIVE years experience as a stationary engineer, oiler, water tender, fireman, or mixed service of five years in such capacity or capacities, provide, however, THREE years of such five-year period shall have been served as a certified stationary engineer
or
- A graduation certificate from an accredited engineering school with at least two years of practical experience as a stationary engineer, oiler , water tender, fireman or mixed service of two years in such capacity or capacities
or
- A United States Department of Labor diploma showing the applicant finished a full three-year course as an apprentice stationary engineer and one year of practical experience as a second grade stationary engineer or two years or practical experience as a third grade stationary engineer.
Second Grade Stationary Engineer's License Requirements
An applicant for a SECOND GRADE stationary engineers license shall present to the Board service letters or certified copies of same, showing that they have:
- At least THREE YEARS of practical experience as a stationary engineer, oiler, water tender, fireman or mixed service of three years in the above capacities, provided, however, that one of the three years shall have been served as a certified engineer;
or
- A graduation certificate from an accredited engineering school with as least ONE YEAR practical experience or mixed service of one year in the above capacities.
